A. Silicone is durable, and more ocean-friendly than plastic. It lasts longer, and stands up better against heat and cold than plastics. When burned, silicone reverts back into its harmless ingredients: amorphous silica, carbon dioxide, and water vapor (unlike plastic which releases toxins when burned).

Silicone is more environmentally friendly than plastic in kitchen applications as plastic is not as long lasting as silicone is more inert than plastic, which means it has a lower chance of leaking chemicals into food when used for food storage.

A. As smartfreeze containers are made from food grade silicone they are extremely durable and robust.

Q. Are Smartfreeze containers free from BPA and Pthalates?

A. Yes Smartfreeze containers are BPA, Pthalates and lead free.

Q. Can I use my Smartfreeze container in the fridge?

A. Yes Smartfreeze containers can be used in the fridge as well but expiry dates will be shorter when food is stored in the fridge than it would be in the freezer.

Q. Can I store liquids in my Smartfreeze container?

A. Smartfreeze containers have a tight seal so are perfect for storing soups and sauces.

Q. Do Smartfreeze containers stain?

A. Smartfreeze containers can sometimes be slightly stained if foods with a concentrated colour has been stored in them, however tough stains that aren’t lifted by hand or the dishwasher can be lifted by soaking in hot water with baking soda with the lid sealed.

Q. Can I put my Smartfreeze container in the oven?

A. Yes because food grade silicone is heat-resistant and safe for the oven and freezer it can endure extremely high and low temperatures. Highest of 220 degrees.

Q. Can I put my Smartfreeze container in the dishwasher?

A. Yes Smartfreeze containers are safe to be used in the dishwasher.

Q. How do I remove a meal from that Smartfreeze App once the meal has been consumed? 

A. You can scan the container then select delete or just go into the app and select the container you want to delete.

Q. What do I do if I lose or replace my phone?

A. Because you sign in to the Smartfreeze App using either email or Facebook your account will remain in tact and will allow you to log on from another device and review your containers.

Q. Will the QR code fade.

A. No the QR code is made from silicone ink and will not fade.
